When you open your home to an international student, you’re creating a home away from home. You’ll have the opportunity to enrich the lives of students from around the world by sharing your culture, traditions, and way of life.

Expectations for Homestay Families

At ExpAcross, we value the integral role of our host families in providing a welcoming and supportive environment for international students. To ensure a positive experience for both our students and host families, we have outlined the following requirements and expectations:

Welcoming Environment

Create a friendly and welcoming environment that fosters a sense of belonging and inclusion.

Comfortable Living Space

Provide a clean, comfortable private bedroom furnished with essential amenities: bed, desk, and storage space.

Nutritious Meals

(If applicable): Provide nutritious meals that accommodate students’ dietary preferences and restrictions.

Cultural Exchange

Engage in cultural exchange activities and conversations to facilitate language practice and cross-cultural understanding.

Support & Respect

Offer guidance and support as students navigate life in a new country while respecting their privacy.

Effective Collaboration:

Maintain open and transparent communication to ensure a safe, seamless, and positive experience for all students.

Screening Process

Host families must be aged 25 years or older and willing to
undergo a comprehensive screening process, which includes an
interview with the host parent(s), a home inspection visit, and
providing police check documents for all members residing in the
same household who are aged 18 years or older.
